As NYSC turns 45 this year, Kaduna Corps members have begged on the Federal Government to increase their monthly allowance of N19, 000.
NYSC was established by Decree No. 24 of May, 22, 1973 during the regime of General Yakubu Gowon (Rtd) which is now an Act of Parliament. As it clocks 45 this year, the Kaduna Corps members solicit an increment on their monthly allowance of N19, 000. They called on both the federal and state governments to boost their welfare collections as they organised themselves on a road walk in the street of Ali Akilu Road in the state capital.
The NYSC Director – General, Sulaiman Kazaure on Monday, April 23, 2018 said that their demand can only be determined by the federal government new national minimum wages scheme in a statement.
He made this open during the briefing with the press after the swearing–in ceremony of the 2018 Batch ‘A’ Corps members at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Kusalla, Karaye Local Government Area of Kano State.
In the meantime, barely the space of two weeks, the NYSC Scheme’s Director, press and Publications Mrs. Adenike Adeyemi announced the increase in the corps members allowances. She declared in the statement the increased payment of transportation allowance from being N1500 to N1800 while their local allowance is now N1400
Perhaps, the button for the increment has just begun. We hope it last and remains steady.
